Spotlight: Creating Standout Resumes and Cover Letters

Developing and maintaining your resume and cover letter is essential for all professionals regardless of whether you are presently seeking a new job or promotion. These items, also called career assets, help you articulate your pattern of success as well as help you understand your network and career goals.

In this JPro Spotlight Master Class, Emily Kapit will teach you how to identify your Pattern of Excellence (your unique achievements and track record that demonstrates your skillset) to better understand how your accomplishments relate to your career trajectory and goals. You will learn strategies, tips, and tricks for maintaining your career assets and how to integrate your resume with your LinkedIn profile.

By the end of this class, you will:

  • Learn frameworks to proactively identify and articulate your record of success and understand how they show up in your professional assets.   
  • Gain a stronger understanding of today’s standards and employer expectations for resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles; and note how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATSs) play into the document creation.   
  • Learn practical tips and tools to build and maintain your career assets which can immediately be applied to your overall career growth.  
  • Understand and communicate to your team members (and others in your professional orbit) the importance of recognizing their own patterns of excellence, translating these critical pieces into professional assets as well as finetuning their career paths towards work they enjoy and in which they excel
