Deirdre (she/her) is a proud non-profit generalist, who finds joy in thinking strategically and connecting the dots across multiple areas of an organization’s work. She has a passion for assisting growing organizations in developing the systems, structures, data, and strategic vision that allow them to further their impact. Deirdre has found her professional home at Gateways: Access to Jewish Education for the past ten years, culminating in her current position as Chief Strategy and Operating Officer. In her role Deirdre is responsible for the overall creation and implementation of Gateways’ strategic plan, partnering with staff across all areas of the organization, from programs to development to finance and operations. She directly oversees all of the core business functions of the organization, including human resources, finance, IT, operations and risk management. Deirdre thrives off constant learning and seeks to foster a culture of continuous improvement within her work.
Prior to joining Gateways in 2012, Deirdre served as Program Director and then Director of Operations for a children’s health foundation, as well as serving as a consultant to a variety of non-profits on organizational development and strategy. She has held an array of leadership positions on non-profit Boards, focusing on strategic planning and the establishment of best practices. She holds a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Non-Profit Management, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Race and Ethnic Relations, both from Clark University. As a non-Jew, Deirdre has a particular interest in supporting non-Jews within the field, and in ensuring that the Jewish communal world continues to be enriched by passionate staff from a wide range of backgrounds. She lives outside of Boston with her husband and their two young children.
