Mark is the director of JResponse, JCC Association’s powerful initiative that convenes, trains and deploys JCC professionals from across the continent to JCC communities in the aftermath of a crisis. Mark brings to the role over 15 years of experience elevating talent in nonprofit organizations and spearheading community service initiatives at major Jewish institutions, including the Jewish Theological Seminary of America (JTS), the 92 Street Y and the Mandel JCC of Cleveland, Ohio. Mark writes and speaks on best practices to invest in our Jewish professionals, including his $54,000 Strategy series and ELI Talk: Mah Tovu. Mark holds dual master’s degrees in non-profit management and Judaic studies from New York University and a bachelor’s degree from McGill University. He lives in Hartsdale, New York, where he, his wife Rabbi Mara Young, and two children are members of the Harold and Elaine Shames JCC on the Hudson.
I am motivated to serve on the JPRO board because I believe deeply that we must provide the vibrant, and innovative network that supports and invests in the Jewish professionals who do the hard and holy work of building community, educating and inspiring others, and working creatively and diligently to improve our world.
